One of the most respected and recognized people in the world of communications. A professional whose purpose has always been to entertain the Latino community with radio and information programming, and in turn as a counselor, has been to direct and guide the careers of so many broadcasters, salespeople, artists, and friends.
Mr. Duharte, who initially wanted to pursue a career in Law after his university preparatory studies in Peru, changed his destiny through the influence of one of his brothers who graduated in New York in Telecommunications – Radio and Television. He decided to start his studies in California in Telecommunications. At the College of San Mateo and San Francisco State where over time, he received his degree as Director/Producer in Radio and Television. His first job, which he held for 10 years, was with the opportunity provided by Messrs. Leon and Terry Crosby, at the only Spanish-language television station in the bay area called KEMO TV. He worked in different departments starting from Cameraman to Program Director. Then, because the KEMO TV station was sold, Mr. Duharte was hired back by The Crosby Family as General Manager for the radio station now called KBRG in Freemont, CA. After two years, The Crosby Family sold the station to Brothers Danny and Jimmy Villanueva, who after another two years, acquired the KLOK station, where with said acquisition Duharte became the first General Manager in Northern California of the station. combination of two radio stations in Spanish, AM and FM. He dedicated himself here until 1992. His destiny changed when, because these stations were also sold, Duharte, together with Amador Bustos, Salvador Homero Campos, and Mark Parechen, left to found La Cadena Z, where he held the positions of Regional Vice President for this great chain. He then started with one station and later became a National Network with more than 60 stations. He performed this function until La Cadena Z was sold in 2001. When La Cadena Z was sold, Duharte decided to buy what is now La Kaliente and became President and General Manager. La Kaliente and Mr. Carlos A. Duharte, are linked, as in the past, to the National Chain: Mexicana Musical directed by Salvador Homero Campos, converting it into “La Kaliente Mexicana Musical ”
When contemplating this long history, there is no doubt that there have been a large number of announcers as well as a large number of people who have worked under the direction of Mr. Duharte, who today has more than 45 years of experience in the media. A very methodical, very disciplined, and above all very creative person, Mr. Duharte today reveals to us that he feels proud because he has dedicated a large part of his life to the Hispanic market. And with so many years of having worked with Mexicans, and even though he is a good Peruvian, he prefers Mexican dishes. In general, he feels so proud among Mexicans that if you one day ask him where he is from, he will answer you with a smile.
